About

I could incite yawns and eye-rolling by telling you that I am passionate, thoughtful, innovative, strategic, insightful, driven, and, of course, talented. After all, in this industry, who isn’t? So, while that list of obligatory adjectives does indeed pertain to me, it’s also just more of the same. Instead, why don’t I share with you some of my more unique qualities?

A large part of my talent is in my head—and no, that doesn’t mean it’s imaginary. It means that I come up with good ideas and unexpected solutions. I love brain teasers and puzzles and figuring out inventive ways to create something new or improve something old. I can be a little weird, but that off-kilter way of thinking only helps to arrive at those epiphanic, “by Jove, I think I’ve got it!” moments. To use industry jargon, I “think outside the box” and am a “creative problem solver.”

The bottom line is, I love doing what I do and I’m good at it. I work hard, can admit when I’m wrong, and if I don’t know how to do something, I’ll learn. I work well in a group as well as on my own, I can take criticism as well as give it, I meet my deadlines, and I don’t think that, just because the clock says 5, the work day is over.

Born and raised in New Jersey, I moved to Washington, DC, to attend the Corcoran College of Art + Design (now George Washington University’s Corcoran School of the Arts & Design), where I started as a Graphic Design major. Ultimately switching focuses, I received a BFA in Digital Media Design. Upon graduation I became a designer/animator at HUGO Creative where we produced work for clients such as TLC, TV One, and Comcast SportsNet. Both of my parents having moved west, I decided that I, too, wanted a bit of that Southern California sunshine. And here I am, a little bit tanner, and eager for the opportunity to work on the next great idea. So let’s chat—email me at hi@monicachance.com. There are no second Chances….No, really. I’m an only child. I am, literally, the last Chance…
